CREATIVE LEARNING WORKSHOPS

‘I wanted to thank you for working with my student the other day. He was able to gain so much knowledge from you and has been reinspired to work on his performance. I will definitely love to have you come in again to work with more of our students - Heidi Quinn, St Aloysius’ College
How might you get your actors and students ready for a show? What do you need? You need focus. You need imagination. You need their weight to be in the right place. You need to know that they’re all together in the room. Ready to play.

Alicia offers Jacques Lecoq, playbuilding, physical theatre workshops to primary, secondary and tertiary drama students across Sydney and NSW and delivers training to community arts based organisations. She works to create an atmosphere where movement, play and working physically is a natural progression from working with text and original source material. The teaching is based on physical approaches to creating new work as an ensemble, improvisation and the importance of (Le Jeu) play building. The heart of the training lies in the French Jacques Lecoq pedagogy.

Examples of Lecoq workshops available:
Play building and storytelling for theatre
Neutral Mask training & the natural dynamics of movement
Physical Improvisation
Found object theatre
Bouffon - the art of mockery
Clowning
Commedia dell’arte
Tragedy & Chorus
Solo artists and ensembles workshops:
Alicia's interest in training and collaborating with others is in response to a growing trend of artists taking control of their creative output and specifically geared towards visually arresting, non-traditional performance styles. Alicia likes to work with artists across disciplines in devised processes to create original works in which drama, comedy, time and space all play a key role in shaping a visceral experience for the audience.

Get in touch, if you are:
  • New to creating your own work or already creating work as a solo-performer or within an ensemble
  • Searching for new performance-based tools and techniques, and interested in the Lecoq pedagogy
  • Seeking artistic dialogue, creative networking, provocation, and growth

Workshops can be tailored according to your artistic requirements.
